Meet the people behind the work.
From creative storytelling to preserving neighborhood history, our interns bring fresh perspectives and hands-on support to Deep Ellum.
Our interns have included students from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), Southern Methodist University (SMU), University of North Texas (UNT), and Southern New Hampshire University.
Community learning at every stage
The Deep Ellum Foundation has also partnered with White Rock Montessori’s Adolescent (Middle School) Program, which creates an environment where students live in and practice community as they transition from childhood to adulthood.

The Instagram and Facebook portfolio managed by intern team lead Zainab Aziz recorded more than 1.83 million views from April through August 2026.

Audrey Rutherford’s Reels spotlighting locally owned Deep Ellum businesses collectively earned more than 60,000 views.

Tools for local businesses
Arman Sarder developed an online process for businesses to submit and update their information, and helped create the 2026 World Cup Fan Destination Guide.
Preserving neighborhood stories
Aniqa Amjad cataloged historic flyers and helped scan AllGood Cafe materials at the Dallas Public Library, supporting organized digital records of Deep Ellum’s past.
Planning for the future
Carson Lockett researched donor engagement and fundraising strategies and developed a concept and framework for a future Deep Ellum Giving Day.
