Deep Ellum Community Engagers
Community safety is built on connection. The Deep Ellum Community Engagers Pilot Program brings trained, approachable team members into the district during peak nightlife hours to build relationships, de-escalate tensions and help create a safer, more welcoming Deep Ellum.
The program is a community-based public safety initiative focused on proactive engagement, violence prevention and trust-building.

Community Engagers serve as visible, credible messengers who connect with people throughout the district and help address issues early.

Engagers create positive connections with visitors, young people, businesses and community members throughout Deep Ellum.
De-escalate Tensions
Trained team members engage with people before conflicts grow, helping reduce tension through communication and trust.
Connect People to Resources
Engagers help connect people with services, information and resources when additional support may be needed.

Community Engagers are out in Deep Ellum building relationships, connecting with visitors and businesses, and creating a visible, approachable presence in the district.

A presence during Deep Ellum’s busiest nightlife hours.
During the pilot, Community Engagers operated in the district from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, creating opportunities to engage directly with the people who live, work and spend time in Deep Ellum.
Prevention through connection.
The Deep Ellum Community Engagers Pilot Program advances the Deep Ellum Community Safety Plan 2.0 through prevention, relationship-building and community partnership. The program was developed by the Deep Ellum Foundation in partnership with Learn With Train LLC.
